BACK TO THE HOSPITAL
(Graphic content warning.)
This update is going to be really quick as I am heading back to the hospital.
I got half my staples out Thursday, and since then things have been getting worse. Pain is up, pain med use is up, bleeding is up.
Jim has been absolutely amazing – catering to my every whim. We enjoyed a quiet, relaxing, Valentines Day together.
I am still not good at this resting shit, but I’m trying. I’m really trying to sit.
I went to Emergency Saturday night, but they said that there was really nothing they could do. The good news is that my vitals are rock solid and my hemoglobin is 117.
I had a follow-up scheduled today with Dr. Quinlan, theoretically to remove the remaining staples.
No dice.
The good news: Gladys is 100% benign, (no cancer!) and Dr. Quinlan gave me pictures of it.
The bad news: He’s not happy with how it’s healing (it’s not sealing/ binding/ whatever you call it) so he wants to open me up, clean it out and put a vacuum dressing on it. Back to the OR I go.
Theoretically this will help the wound to heal faster. If you look at the picture, you can see that there’s a gap between the top and the bottom of the wound. It’s called “dehiscing,” and it’s not good.
So. Back to the hospital I go. Check in is at 3pm; no word yet on when to expect surgery – likely not until tomorrow.
Please send healing thoughts / prayers.
And – hey – I get to wear the awesome massage booties again. Score!
